On the Fringe Press seeks books that are not mainstream. We’re interested in the unconventional. Risky. Uncomfortable. Strange. Unique and outright wild. Books and voices that don’t push boundaries as much as charge through them. We love genre-bending, genre mashups, and those unboxable beauties that aren’t genre at all. Those new and unnamable. The books you read and think, “What was that? I love it!” Books that many agents or larger publishers won’t touch because they’re not those “sure things” when they most certainly are.
We’re looking to amplify voices from marginalized communities. Either forgotten or shushed. Challenge societal norms. Show up. Speak. Scream. If other publishers, editors, or people have told you to tone it down or pull back, we want you to pump up the volume and charge forward. If you try to make the truth gentle for all, you pretty it up until it isn’t the truth any longer. It’s not you. We want you. Your experiences. What you long for, despise, give a reader warm fuzzies, your vices, unbelievable and infuriating – uncensored. Authenticity and vulnerability. Raw and unfiltered. Just go for it. Be free and share your truth, even if they’re not truths people may not want to face. Those are the most necessary. To be unafraid.
We chose our name with a purpose. We want to embody that phrase. Ride along the edges until we’re far away. It’s better on the other side. Promise.
