To exist. Right now, that means the necessary evil of money. How will we build things, pay others their dues, and make a difference without any backing? None of us came into this independently wealthy. Even together… allow hilarity to ensue. As a new venture, we’re starting from nothing when signing authors, printing and selling books, spearheading literacy initiatives, and engaging with our readers and outside communities – that isn’t free. Yes, right now, we’re working for free, but our authors should definitely get paid, and our contracts will need to be paid in advance. Why couldn’t one of us be rich, right?
